Should you rent a car in Panama?
Decide based on trip shape, not by default.
- City-center stays rarely need a car
- Day trips can change the equation
- Parking and traffic matter more than rental price
Usually not needed inside the city
If your trip is mostly urban, public transport and walking are recommended keep casco viejo separate from canal or newer-center plans rather than overloading one day.
Renting becomes more interesting when you add countryside routes, beaches outside the center, or multi-stop regional loops.
