How transport works in Harbin
Match the route to the shape of the city, not just the map.
- Group the day by area
- Use the simplest transfer
- Let walking and transit support each other
Use metro or taxis for longer jumps, then walk Central Street and the cathedral-river core once you are in place.
Harbin works best in weather-aware clusters. Central Street, Saint Sophia, and nearby routes pair well; farther snow or island layers should get their own separate block. A direct transfer is the cleanest first move because Harbin's weather and scale make a settled hotel far more valuable than improvisation.
Most transport problems come from forcing too many district changes into one day rather than from the system itself.
