Getting Around Guangzhou

Getting around Guangzhou is easier when you think in districts first and metro lines second. The metro is strong, but a day can still become tiring if Liwan, Shamian, Tianhe, and Canton Tower are scattered without a sequence.

The movement pattern that works

Use the metro as a spine, not an excuse to cross the city all day.

Group Liwan, Shamian, and Chen Clan Ancestral Hall when possible.
Treat Tianhe or Zhujiang New Town as the evening zone.
Use rides only when rain, luggage, or timing makes the metro annoying.

Guangzhou metro coverage is useful, but the stations and transfers can still eat the day. I would build a route that asks the metro to do simple work, not constant rescue work.

If the day is humid or rainy, reduce the number of crossings. One old-city block plus one modern evening is usually stronger than four scattered wins.
