The first route I would choose
Give the city contrast without overloading the map.
- Start with Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Shamian, or Liwan.
- Use dim sum or a Cantonese meal as the middle anchor.
- Finish around Tianhe, Canton Tower, or the Pearl River.
Guangzhou is strongest when the day moves from older texture to modern scale. That contrast is more memorable than trying to visit every famous name in one damp sprint.
If you only have one full day, keep it simple and specific. One cultural stop, one good meal, and one evening view can say more than a dozen rushed pins.
