How transport works in Vancouver
Match the route to the shape of the city, not just the map.
- Group the day by area
- Use the simplest transfer
- Let walking and transit support each other
SkyTrain, buses, SeaBus, walking, cycling, and selective direct rides cover Vancouver well when each day stays compact.
Vancouver works best through one district route at a time with walking, SkyTrain, buses, ferries, and short rides, not broad all-day movement across the whole metro area. YVR to downtown by Canada Line is the cleanest first move for most stays because it gets you into the city fast without car logic you probably do not need on day one.
Most transport problems come from forcing too many district changes into one day rather than from the system itself.
