Should you rent a car in Tunis?
Decide based on trip shape, not by default.
- City-center stays rarely need a car
- Day trips can change the equation
- Parking and traffic matter more than rental price
Usually not needed inside the city
If your trip is mostly urban, public transport and walking are recommended keep the medina and central city together, give sidi bou said or the coast their own route, and do not flatten the whole trip into only one historic-core pass. tunis becomes much richer when its layers stay distinct.
Renting becomes more interesting when you add countryside routes, beaches outside the center, or multi-stop regional loops.
