How transport works in Nairobi
Match the route to the shape of the city, not just the map.
- Group the day by area
- Use the simplest transfer
- Let walking and transit support each other
Public transport and walking are recommended
Each day should belong to one zone. Pair central city sights together, or pair Karen with wildlife and gardens, instead of trusting fast cross-city transfers that often do not exist in practice. A direct airport transfer is usually worth it in Nairobi because traffic uncertainty can erase any theoretical gain from more complicated arrival logic.
Most transport problems come from forcing too many district changes into one day rather than from the system itself.
