How transport works in Nagoya
Match the route to the shape of the city, not just the map.
- Group the day by area
- Use the simplest transfer
- Let walking and transit support each other
Public transport and walking are recommended
Nagoya is easier than its reputation if you respect the station-city split. Treat the castle side, Sakae side, and station side as route blocks instead of mixing them randomly. Meitetsu from the airport is usually the cleanest first move for central stays. The best transfer only changes when your hotel sits awkwardly beyond the station spine or you arrive late enough to value a direct ride more.
Most transport problems come from forcing too many district changes into one day rather than from the system itself.
