Should you rent a car in Macau?
Decide based on trip shape, not by default.
- City-center stays rarely need a car
- Day trips can change the equation
- Parking and traffic matter more than rental price
Do not rent a car for Macau.
If your trip is mostly urban, walk the historic center, use hotel shuttles and short taxis between macau peninsula and cotai, and do not try to solve the city with one public-transport theory. macau works best when the historic core and taipa stay on separate route blocks. cross-city hopping weakens the day quickly.
Renting becomes more interesting when you add countryside routes, beaches outside the center, or multi-stop regional loops.
