How transport works in Houston
Match the route to the shape of the city, not just the map.
- Group the day by area
- Use the simplest transfer
- Let walking and transit support each other
Public transport and walking are recommended
Houston is a car-first city. Build one district at a time and avoid pretending the city rewards spontaneous cross-town movement. A direct transfer is the cleanest first move because Houston becomes much easier once the hotel district is fixed.
Most transport problems come from forcing too many district changes into one day rather than from the system itself.
